Addressing Technician - City of Meridian

The Addressing Technician (AT) assigns addresses to all new residential and commercial subdivisions and buildings, and maintains and updates the City's addressing database. This position is responsible for new subdivision street name review; and denial of plat details not in compliance with the City's Street Name and Addressing Ordinance, standard addressing guidelines and NENA standards. The AT also makes corrections to addressing and/or street-naming anomalies that may lead to emergency response delays, tracks project status updates on new subdivisions and their readiness for building permit applications, conducts plan reviews to calculate water and sewer assessments on commercial projects, and responds to daily requests for information from multiple agencies, developers and residents.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Represents the City's interests as part of an inter-agency review committee for proposed subdivisions and developments;

1.  Reviews new subdivision plats, evaluates existing street alignments, verifies the accuracy of plat information, and makes new street name recommendations to committee members and developers;

2.  Collaborates with Ada County Emergency Communications Bureau (911Call Center) and Meridian Fire and Police Departments in identifying and correcting addressing and street name issues in order to reduce emergency response delays;

3.  Verifies existing addresses and parcel data for commercial project applications, assign new addresses for residential and commercial subdivisions and projects, maintain updated address information in MEAD Pro (Meridian Enterprise Addressing Database) for daily transmittal to outside agencies and verifies address information consistency between MEAD Pro and the Accela enterprise systems;

4.  Conducts on-site visits to buildings and development projects to determine the accuracy of addresses, locations of building entrances for GIS address point placement, and accuracy of street signs;

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1.  Must be detail-oriented, and have strong public relations skills;

2.  Must be self-motivated and able to work independently;

3.  Must have proven skills in conflict resolution, problem-solving, time management, decision-making, and customer service;

4. Must have the ability to be flexible and adaptable;
